Our favourite things in October

1. The Snag Stand
Ever since our weekly BBQs have gone, we've had to get our snag fix elsewhere (there's still hope our 31ST BBQs will make a comeback). Our favourite not-cooked-at-home-on-the-barbie-snag is from The Snag Stand at Westfield Sydney's food court. So many to choose from, so many combos; naked or tucked in - the choice is yours. And don't forget the chips - seriously yum.

2. Mini Chef Cookbook Series
This pre-christmas chef's cookbook series is genius. The covers are so simple with a limited colour plate with some clean type - so effective. And at only $20 each we can have one of each - so santa put this on our list! These were spotted at Pentimento on King St Newtown, but we're sure your local bookstore has these as well.

3. Kurtosh
If you didn't know that Shell's uncle was a pastry chef, now you do! The second cafe of the Kurtosh chain (the first is in The Spot, Randwick) is in hipster Crown St, Surry Hills. It's fitout is cute-as-pie with so many sweet treats (including the famed chimney cake). You can buy cakes by the gram - so effectively you can have a bit of everything! And there's some equally smooth coffee to match. Best bit? They are open late - hurrah!
